Bowie - Earthly Messenger, Aylesbury
Photographs taken in Market Square, Aylesbury, in 2018, a few weeks after the unveiling of Andrew Sinclair's bronze statue of David Bowie — the first statue of Bowie anywhere in the world. The work stands against the back wall of the old Borough Assembly Hall, where Friars Aylesbury booked Bowie five times between 1971 and 1972, including the January 1972 show at which the Spiders from Mars effectively coalesced backstage and the Ziggy Stardust persona made its public debut. Speakers above the statue play a random Bowie track every hour from nine to nine. These images move between the wide composition and its details — the standing figure, the leaping Ziggy, the thirteen personas worked into the bas-relief, the starman engraved into the paving at its foot. ## What Erhart Küng's Last Judgement Really Shows Us. This digital gallery offers an unprecedented, intimate encounter with one of Europe's most complex Late Gothic masterpieces: the Last Judgment portal at the Bern Minster. Captured through an intensive process, this collection was built from over 20 high-resolution close-up photographs, seamlessly merged into a highly detailed panoramic study. To preserve the pure artistic vision of master sculptor Erhart Küng and restore the visual integrity of the stone reliefs, the modern wire netting installed to protect the monument from pigeons was painstakingly removed digitally. The result is a crisp, unobstructed view of the staggering structural contrast between the vacancy of the saved and the violent, agonizing specificity of the damned.
